The legend of the seven-headed palm of Ica – Peru

The legend of the seven-headed palm of Ica – Peru

Hello, today I want to tell you a legend of Ica, the country I live in Peru.

The most famous witch or in local parlance “bruja” Ica is undoubtedly Julia Hernández Pecho Viuda, a witch dead 106 age, after a life of risky, full of spells and incantations addressed to do good and treat.

This is what says the legend that has been passed from father to son, historians informal, that tell the apocalyptic prophecy of the seven-headed palm.

There is in fact a Cachiche, a famous district of Ica in the past because the area of the Witches “bruje” and Sorcerers “Curanderos”, a strange palm tree with several trunks that are generated from a single root system. What makes this unique is the fact that palm plus a few logs onto the ground or are twisted like the coils of a snake.

Legend has it that the witch predicted that Ica was destroyed by a flood when this strange palm would be born the seventh head.

The witch was right unfortunately, In fact, Ica was flooded in January 1998 and about one thousand houses were flooded when the river overflowed.

In that year the palm had sprouted its seventh head and so since those who live in Cachiche cuts or burns on the seventh bush before it can grow and bring another flood!
